E Green

The dawn of every civilization has begun with light. This has been illustrated specifically with man’s emergence from the Dark Ages to show that light or illumination and the progression of man go hand in hand.
Emergence green is a premier solar and renewable energy organization. We are committed to reducing Africa’s carbon footprint and to providing all people in Africa with affordable solar and renewable energy products. Emergence Green and its partners have more than 10 years of experience in its field. We are dedicated in leading by example in areas of service and product excellence.
Our products include:
- Solar geysers (SABS Approved)
- Solar lighting systems
- Solar cell phone chargers
- Heat pumps
- CFL’s and various other products such as streetlights, solar borehole pumps, and a revolutionary new type of smokeless cooking product
It cannot be denied that we have all felt and seen the effects of climate change. We can no longer afford to wait for ‘other people’ to accept responsibility for the planet we all inhabit. We can all play small roles which add up in the long run to leave our kids a legacy that’s worth living for and worth living on, together. The green energy movement has been around since the late 1800’s and we have finally come to realise through scientific research that man is the driving force behind global warming that is now moving towards the development of programs in both the public and private sector in finding alternatives to fossil fuels. With regards to solar, “as water is heated mostly by the sun, a single solar water heater will reduce a city’s CO2 emissions by about 2.6 tons per household per year (Eskom).”
Other benefits of using a Solar Geyser are:
Water heating costs for a mid to high income household can be reduced by up to 60%. This adds up to a lot of money saved over time. For lower income households we expect an improved quality of life as well as the replacement of dirtier and dangerous fuels, such as paraffin for heating water. Also time that was spent for making fires to heat water can be spent more constructively. Southern Africa has one of the highest insolation (hours of sunshine) rates in the world making it ideal for the use of Solar Geysers.
Commercial and industrial uses of Solar Geysers
Solar water heaters can be successfully used in hotels, hospitals clinics and old age homes. Even though the hot water demands here are higher than in residential areas, the larger roof area allows for more collectors to be installed. The idea is for SWH not to replace boilers but rather for preheating purposes so that the part of the heating process is done by solar and not carbon based fuels.
Potential for rollout
The following graph shows how much energy, carbon and peak demand power would be saved in 15 of South Africa's cities if Solar Geysers were installed.
